LET'S SAVE OUR PLANET

GLOBAL warming has become the international issues. All nations take the responsibilities as the quality of our environment decreases significantly. Theoretically, climate change will give its worst effect to the poor nation, and there, the poorest within. Actually, it is the responsibility of all nations to make our planet free from pollution. In this case, there are two important points to be noted, the first is how to reduce emission significantly as the result of fossil fuel, and the second, how to preserve our forest as a way to absorb emission in the air.

Environment Destruction

The main cause of global warming is the destruction our environment. The quality of our environment decreases due to human activities. The emission of carbon gas in our atmosphere makes it thicker, so that sun light can be reflected back to the outer atmosphere, its accumulation causes the temperature on the earth increases continuously.
Actually the only thing that can reduce the effect of air pollution caused by emission is the existence of tree. The tree will reduce the emission significantly, because it absorbs carbon gas as well as releases oxygen.
Unfortunately, the condition of our forest now is very terrifying. In Indonesian context, we have a very fundamental problem about our forest. Illegal logging becomes a serious problem that needs to be handled seriously. The fact shows us that the destruction of our forest is very serious. Having known those bad effect resulted from environment destruction should make us think how to preserve our forest to protect human being from a terrible disaster in the future. Related to our environment destruction, it will also give us the long term effect, which is known as the effect of global warming.

Disastrous Effect

In the last decade, maybe we did not realize the effect of global warming in our life. But nowadays, it seems that global warming is not only a discourse. Actually it is unavoidable situation that accelerates faster and faster. The visible effect of global warming is the temperature of the earth increases, so that we feel that now our planet is getting hotter than the previous time. This global warming then lead to climate change. It is very easy for us to find the evidence of this phenomenon. Just take a look about the change of rainy season in our country. In the past, our farmers will easily predict the time to plant rice. But what can we see now? Most of them are confused when they should start.planting rice due to their difficulty to predict the rainy season. Another bad effect of global warming is the higher sea level. It is believed that the warmer temperature causes the snow in the polar area melts, so that it increases the level of sea. The flood in some coastal areas in Indonesia as well the higher tide is the proof of the higher sea surface.

Give our heart

Finally we can say that the awareness of our society to preserve our environment has a close relationship with our behavior and culture. Habituating this attitude in our life is not an easy matter since we still have limited knowledge about environment.
Another important thing should be done dealing with this global problem is how to grow a sense of belonging to our environment. We should always think about our next generation who will experience this world. It is a wise thinking that gives us a strong self control. It is now a good moment to actualize our best role to make a betterment in our life in the future by establishing a better world. Actually we can save our planet everyday.. (Condro Nur Alim)

"ENGLISH CLUB"

AN English Club is a place for language learners to use English in a casual setting. Practising your skills in the classroom is important, but it is not like real life. In the classroom, you often focus on one skill and one item (for example: grammar - future tense). After learning the rules your teacher gives you time to practise using the item. You have your papers in front of you and the rules are fresh in your mind. Will you remember how to use your skills next week, or next year? In an English Club, you get a chance to practise many different skills in a setting that is more like real life. Though your English teacher understands your English, your English Club friends will require you to speak more clearly and listen more carefully.

Make English-speaking friends

Starting an English Club is a great way to make new lasting friendships. It is important to have good ESL friends because your confidence will increase if you do. You will feel more comfortable using English around people you trust and have fun with. Don't limit your friends to the people in your class.

How can I start an English Club?

Post a sign-up sheet
You can start by putting up a sign-up sheet in your school lobby or on a local library bulletin board. Write your email address.at the top so that people can email you with any ideas they might have^-Make sure they write down their phone numbers or email addresses so rfet you can contact them about the time and place of the'club meetings.

Seek Help

Don't try to do everything yourself. Each member should contribute the club. You may even want to find a fluent English speaker who volunteer to come to your meetings. New teachers or a high school may be willing to help you for free because the experience will help them find a job. You can put an ad in a local paper or at the library or supermarket. (WANTED: Volunteer to help with English Club. Must be fluent in English. No teaching experience or preparation necessary. Call Eva at 333-3333 more information.)

Hold an introductory meeting

After you have enough people sign up (6-10 people is a go( you will need to hold an introductory meeting. At the first mee bers can learn each other's names and you can talk about what people are interested in. One way to organize the club is by member in charge of being the leader each week. You can organize the weeks in terms of themes (music/food/travel...), or skills (reading/writing/ listening...).

Create rules and routines

At your meeting you can discuss what types of rules and routines the club should have. For example. English Clubs usually have an "English only" rule. Will people be allowed to drink and eat during the meeting? What about bringing a friend? It is a good idea to conduct each club meeting in a similar way. When people know what to expect, they are more likely to attend.

Who will join my English Club?

You can invite anyone to join your English Club, including friends, family members, fellow students, co-workers, and people from other schools. English Clubs tend to be more fun when they are multigenera-lional and multicultural. If your best friend is joining, why not ask her grandmother to join too? English Club members also work well when members have varying English language abilities. One member may be able to teach you something new, and another may benefit from a skill that you can share. Teaching someone else a grammar point or explaining how to use a new word is one of the best ways to review your skills.
Where should we hold our English Club?

At an English School

The easiest place to hold an English Club is in a spare classroom at an English school. After classroom hours, most schools remain open for an hour or two so that teachers can prepare for their classes. This is also a ^ convenient location because some or all of the members will already be in the '%• school and will have no excuses for missing a club meeting. You will also have access to materials and television equipment.

In members' homes

You may want to take your club out of the classroom in order to make it feel less academic and more social. If you decide to operate your club from a personal home, try to find more than one person who is willing to host the meetings. You will need to choose homes that are in a central location. Within the home, choose a room with a lot of space and few distractions. Don't forget to turn off the telephone. You may want to serve coffee or tea.

At a cafe or restaurant

This type of setting will likely involve a fee. The manager may allow you to reserve a small room in the back if you choose a time of day when there are few customers. You will likely be expected to purchase beverages and tip a server (depending on what country you are in). Operating your club out of a cafe may make it difficult to incorporate movies, music, and other listening practice. A cafe is a good option for
a small conversation club (less than six people).

Outdors

One of the best places to hold an English Club is ouside. This may only the possible during certain warm months depending on what country you are in. Choose a location where shelter can be found in case of rain. Though the beach might sound like a great place to practise your English, remember that yuou will probably be using papers and book which will be difficult in the breeze. A park with picnic tables and shady trees might be better.
Wherever you hold your club, remember that it is a club, not a class. To change the atmosphere i a classroom you might want to open windows or have background music or candles( if the school permits ). A pot of coffee or a bowl of popcorn can also make the meeting feel more like a club than a class. Why not encourage members to take off their shoes when they walk in the door, or sit on the floor instead of chairs. Remember, the purpose of the club is to use English in a life-like situation. Do what feels natural and comfortable.

When and how often should we meet for our English Club?

About once a week
Some clubs fail because they expect too much of the members. It is hard to find time to commit to something outside of school, work, and family. Meeting once a week for about two hours is a good start. Some English Clubs also meet for an additional excursion once a month. ( Chondro adapted from English club Learning)

PUBLISH EVERYTHING OF YOU BY YOUR WEBSITE

Website is a collection of web pages, images, videos, or other digital assets that is hosted on one or more web servers, usually accessible via internet. A web page is a document, typically written in HTML, that is almost always accessible via HTTP, a protocol that transfers informations from the web server to display in the user's web browser. All publicly accessible website are seen collectively as constituting the " World Wide Web". The pages of a website can usually be accessed from a common root URL called the homepage, and usually reside on the same physical server. The URLs of the page organize them into a hierarchy, although the hyperlinks between them control how the reader perceives the overall structure and how the traffic flows between the different parts of the site. Some website require a subscription to access some or all of their content. Examples of subsription sites include many bussiness sites, parts of many news sites, academic journal sites, gaming sites, message boards, web-based email, services, social networking websites, and sites prividing real time stock market data. Because they require authentication ti view the content there are technically an intranet site. The World Wide Web was created in 1991 by CERN engineer, Tim Berners Lee. On 30 April 1993, CERN announced that the World Wide Web would be free to anyone .

Before the introduction of HTML and HTTP other protocols such as file transfer protocol (FTP) and the gopher protocol were used to retrieve individual files from a server. This protocol offer a simple directory structure which the user navigates and chooses files to download.Documents were most often presented as plain text files without formatting or were encoded in word pocessor formats. Organized by function a website many be a personal website, a commercial website, a goverment website,an a non-profit organization website. It could not be the work of an individual, because its harder to do a business or other organization and is ypically dedicated to some particular topic or purpose. Any website can contain hyperlinks to any other website, so the distinction between individual sites, as perceived by the user, may sometimes be blurred. Websites are written in, or dynamically converted to, HTML ( Hyper Text Markup Language ) and are accessed using a software interface classified as an user agent. Web pages can be viewed or otherwise accessed from a arange of computer-based and Internet-enabled devices of various sizes, including dekstop computers, laptops, PDAs and cell phones.

A website is hosted on a computer system known as a web server, allso calld HTTP server, and these terms can also refer to the software that runs on these system and that retrievesand delivers the web pages in response to requests from the website users. Apache is the most commonly used web server software ( according to Netcraft statistics) and Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) is also commonly used.

Website style

a. Static website

A static website is one that has web pages store on the server in the same form as the user will view them. It is primarily coded in HTML. A static website is also called a classic website,a 5-page website or a Brochure website because it simple presents predefined information to the user. It may include information about a company and its products and services via text, photos, flash animation, audio/video and interactive menus and navigation. This type of website usually displays the same information to all visitors, thus the information is static. Similar to handing out a printed brochure to customers or clients, a static website will generally provide consistent, standard information for an extended period of time. Although the website owner may make updatesperiodicaally, it is a manual process to edit the text, photos and other content and may require basic website design skills and softwar. In summary, visitors are not able to control what information they receive via a static website, and must instead settle for whatever content the website owner has decided to offer at that time.

b. Dynamic website

A dynamic website is one that does not have web pages stored on the server in the same form as the user will view them. Instead, the web page content changes automatically and/or frequently based on certain criteria. It generally colates information on the hope each time a page is requested. A website can be dynamic in one of two ways. The first is the web page code is constructed dynamically, piece by piece. The second is that the web page content displayed varies based on certain criteria. The criteria may be predefined rules or may be based on variable user input. A dinamic website is also called a web application, a data-driven website or an oCRAFT website because it presents variable information that is tailored to a particular user. It may accept a user's input and respond to the request. For example, a user can enter text into a login form or keyword search, which prompts the website to fulfill the request and return a unique result. In addition, the user may be able to perform task that may alter the website itself, such as post a comment or update a user profile. Examples of task based website include, on line banking, shopping, e-learning, and social networking.Furthermore, the website may be able to make instant decisions on the fly in various situations, such as online quiz scoring or credit card processing. This type of website usually displays different information depending on the visitor, thus the information is dynamic. Similar to talking to a customer service representative on the telephone, a dynamic website will provide personlized. ( Condro Nur Alim with many refferences)

Is it very hard to stop smoking?

The Indonesian Ulema Council ( MUI ) issued ediets on smoking bans many days ago. It forbade smoking by children and pregnant women, and smoking in public spaces. Meanwhile smoking outside those conditions is still considered as "makruh" (blameworthy) for Moslems. As the result people give different reactions toward it, based on their own reasons, knowledge, and interests. A wise attitude should be carefully addressed on this issue. Do not let emotional tone rule our argument. It is time to fairly observe the fact in our environmentabout smoking habit. After that let's account the bad and possitive effect of smoking in a more global perspective. This may be the best alternative to take our position.

King of Smoker

Smoking has become a hot issue over a period of time. Controversy will always come amid the effort to eliminate this "mass culture". Smoking is acommon habit that we can easily find in our our society. People are smoking for different reasons. Some of them might say that smoking is a trend while others say that smoking is a way to be "a real gentleman". But actually do we really know the danger of smoking? I am sure that in fact people know that smoking is not a good habit even it is a deadly one. Although they know its bad effects, in fact it is not easy to stop smoking. There are some factors that increase the number of smokers. The first is the massive advertisments on media. They are very attractive as well as persuasive to let the young enter their imaginative world. Although the advertisments don't directly visualize smokes physically, their creative words invite the smokers : come on, you will be like this by smoking this cigarettes! Secondly, people assume that smoking becomes a symbol of gentle and friendship,They feel more comfortable with cigarette on their hand. It is also the main menu in any occasion when the young meet together. This common perception has lead the young generations to be more comfortable with their new habit.

The mocking Smoking
In fact, it is proven that smoking is dangerous for our health. According to many
literatures, a cigrette contains 4.000 chemical poisons. That is the reason why WHO predicts that smoking is going to be a deadly killer to vanish 10 million smokers from this earth in 2020, and morst of them come from develeping countries.

Discourage Smoking
A first step may be taken at a very early level. Students of kindergaten, for example should be educate how to love as well as preserve our environment. Some simple daily activities may be given as a real simulation how to apply this concept in action. This awareness, then, can be anhanced when enter elementary school. In this level some factors that endanger our environment will be introduced. It is hoped that they will be more selective in dedicing what they can and can't do. In this level, they will realize that some of our activities will also contribute to the destruction of our environment.

Religious Base
Combating smoking habit in a more formal level often invites chaotic condition among societies. For example, although the Jakarta administration has imposed a law that forbids smoking in public space, it seems that there is no a serious shocking impact to society. Just imagine, if all people around us smoke, where should we inhale the fresh air? Another way out to discourage smoking habit among society may be can be done through religious channe. Religious power is believed to be more powerful than administrative one since its consequence in the life here after.Although the effectiveness of this edict is still questioned, at least it can be the reference for Muslims who declared themselves as a faithful in deciding what to take deals with smoking matter. Admidst this debatable and controversial phenomenon, just ask our deepest heart about the advantagesof the absence of smoking in our surrounding. Finally let's wait and see when the smoke is going down.. ups..sorry when the smoke goes to hell.(Condro Nur Alim : RadarBms.)

How can I make my blog load faster?

The speed at which your blog loads is critical to attracting more readers to your blog. If your blog takes a long time to load, many readers may leave your blog before they have the chance to read it. Here are a few tips and tricks that will help your blog load faster and attract more users:
Posts Your blog's load time can be affected by the number of posts you display on your main page. You can easily edit the number of posts displayed of the main page from the Settings | Formatting tab. You can then select the number of posts you want to display on the main page. We recommend displaying 10 or fewer posts on the main page.
Third Party JavaScript and Links For optimal blog load speed, we recommend using Google/Blogger widgets, JavaScipt and links. However, if you need to use third party JavaScipt and links, your blog will load much faster if you put all JavaScript at the bottom of your blog. If you have third party JavaScript and links in your sidebar, put them in at the bottom of the sidebar.
Images and Media
The more images, videos and other multi-media you have on your blog the longer it will take to load. However, images and other multimedia are important to attracting users to your blog, so it is important to optimize the load speed of your images and media. Here are a few tips to increase the load speed of your media:
Decrease the size of your images or use thumbnails that link to the full-size image.
If you use third party images, consider uploading them to Picasa Web Albums via the Blogger post editor.
If you have a large number of images to display, you can upload all your images (from a vacation or event) to a Picasa Web Album and link to the album in your post or sidebar.
Other suggestions
If you've added any custom CSS to your blog, make sure you put it at the top of the page.
The most important content of your blog that catches readers attention should load the quickest. To help you identify which items are taking the longest to load you can use Stopwatch. To use Stopwatch, enter your blog's URL into the text box and click "Start StopWatch". Stopwatch will then open your blog in a frame and will record the time it takes for everything on your blog to load, including images, videos, widgets, etc. Take note of the items that take the longest to load and modify them appropriately using our suggestions.(Team Blogger)
